What do trees, pirates, fools and groundhogs have in common? They all have their own day. Some are more prestigious than others but each has its own day where they are recognized nationally by people who have a lot of spare time. Sometimes these days pass and without notice. You have to wonder why they even have a day in the first place. Well, if pirates have a day, so can storage facilities. Pirates were funny talking thieves and killers. Storage facilities solve storage problems. If any of the two should have a day it should be storage facilities. So, consider this a proposal for Storage Facility Day.
To have our Storage Facility Day taken seriously, designing the special day is crucial. Every successful holiday has its own holiday card. A card we can buy at a card shop and send to friends and relatives. And just like Christmas cards, there needs to be a few genres. There is the traditional, Happy Self Storage Facility Day. There is the serious, May all of your self storage dreams come true. There is the bad humor, self storage is like a parking lot. They both have a lot of space. And finally, there is the romantic comedy, I knew from the moment I saw you, you needed more space.
Storage Facility Day should include gift exchange. Unlike Christmas where you shop for meaningless gifts like neck-ties and perfume, this holiday comes with its own tradition, storage supplies. That is right. Give you loved one an empty storage box or a roll of packing tape. If you really want to splurge, buy them a storage bin or a storage container. And the best thing about these gifts, they do not need to be gift wrapped. Have a little fun and do one of those box within a box trick. It will get a lot of laughs.
A holiday is not a holiday unless it has a recognizable symbol. Christmas has the tree, St. Patricks Day has the shamrock, and Storage Facility Day has the… Well we need something and luckily we have a lot of options. Many things symbolize storage, such as a lock, a storage box, a storage bin, a garage, a storage shed, and a storage building. Fortunately, most of these things are already around the house, so you will not have to wait in huge Storage Facility Day lines.
We are almost done. Figuring out what day Storage Facility day will fall on is next. Some people will want to go right after Christmas, but that would just lead to failure. Storage Facility day needs to stay away from established holidays for it to be successful. January would be good if people were not exhausted for the holidays. March has March Madness, April is too rainy, May and June have Mothers and Fathers Day, July has the fourth, August is way too hot, September has too many birthdays, October has Halloween and November there is Thanksgiving. And with all the other little holidays in between there is really no day left but one, Leap year day. Just think about it. If we celebrate Storage Facility day on Leap day people will have something to look forward to, sort of like the Olympics.
