Many people have unorganized items around their homes that they need to sort and store. The perfect containers for getting items from around your home together are storage bins. Storage bin come in many different materials like; plastic, wood, metal, cloth, bamboo, cardboard and wicker. Depending on what you may be storing and organizing will help make your decision on what material you would want to store it in.
Plastic storage bins are great for storing items that you want sealed away from dirt and dust. These storage bins can be found at lots of stores and are relatively inexpensive.  There are small sizes for trinkets and tiny goodies and large sizes for bigger items. This storage bins also come in many different colors so you can coordinate what you are storing. Some people just like to have everything in one color tote or some do not care.
Wood storage bins can be boxes or chests that store personal items. Cedar chests are made of wood and are used for storing special clothes, pictures, trinkets and memorabilia. Cedar chests also help keep moths out because the cedar lining is natural bug repellant. In older times, a hope chest or dowry would accompany a new bride to the marriage to the groom.
Metal storage bins are good for food storage and the military uses them for equipment storage. Metal compositions have changed and the newer metal combinations help keep the items stored fresh or dry longer.
Cloth storage bins are good for clothing, sweaters and other soft packable items that can be compressed. Cloth bins come in many colors to coordinate with bedrooms and closets. This is a good option for kid rooms as they are soft and fun to look at.
Bamboo and wicker storage bins are the more decorative of the bins and can be used in a room to provide storage while still maintaining your level of décor. These types cannot always be used outside, so check the label for instructions.
Cardboard storage bins are the basic, cheapest type of storage bins. They can be reused if kept in a dry area. Cardboard bins or boxes can be sealed with tape but will not provide a tight seal like the plastic type.
All of these types of storage bins can be packed with your sorted and organized stuff. Once you pack your storage bins you may find that you do not have the extra space in your home, attic or basement. Self storage units are a great place to store your storage bins. Self storage businesses are full of storage bins. Call your local self storage facility for self storage rates for you storage bins.
