Shoe Storage Revisited
Shoes are coverings worn on the feet for protection. The feet are very tender and even back in the caveman days shoe coverings were a must. The ground is not very forgiving to tender bare feet, so people started covering their feet when they left their dwellings. Ice, snow, mud, stickers, water, sticks, stones and more were the main culprits of hurting bare feet. In the colder weather, shoe coverings were a must just for insulation and warmth. Different weather and different conditions led to having multiple pairs of shoe coverings or shoes. Cold weather shoes would be well insulated with animal fur and hide. Warm weather shoes would be just soles, laced onto the legs. Because there was already specialized shoe making, many found the need for shoe storage even back at the dawn of time.
Shoe storage in its most basic form is storage for shoes. Getting into the shoe storage business is not a bad idea because of the need for storing multiple pairs of shoes. There are many companies out there that specialize in closet organization and shoe storage. They have closet systems that work together to provide the best use of your available closet space. One section of closet organization is always dedicated to shoe storage. While many people buy shoes as a necessity, others just like to buy shoes, lots of shoes. Hence the need for shoe storage wherever you can get it. Most public places insist that any person entering the establishment have shoes on their feet. This is to protect the person from stepping on anything hazardous and prevent them from dirtying their feet. This protects the establishment from insurance claims of slipping, broken glass, etc.
Shoe storage comes in many different forms. Shoe storage can be something as simple as a special compartment in your gym bag to an elaborate cubbyhole system in your walk-in closet. Shoe storage can be a fabric baggie that you put your shoes into and then into your suitcase. Shoe storage bags protect your clothes from touching your dirty shoes and helps keeps your shoes dust free. Shoe storage can be the shoeboxes that your shoes came in when you bought them. Many people just store their shoes in the boxes and then stack them on a shelf. But cardboard will not last forever, so someone came up with the idea of clear shoeboxes for shoe storage. Clear shoe storage shoeboxes are very handy, the lid snaps on for a nice seal. And the clear part allows you to see which pair of shoes you have in the box. Clear shoe storage shoeboxes are relatively inexpensive and can be found at many retail box stores. Plus, the clear shoe storage shoeboxes stack very neatly and they do not take up much room. You can even stack them on the floor in your closet.
Another type of inexpensive shoe storage is an over the door hanging system. This type of shoe storage is great for those with a small space to work with since the plastic pockets hang over a door. This type of shoe storage will not keep your shoes as dust free as closed shoe storage. Yet another type of shoe storage is a shoetree. A shoetree is a freestanding shoe storage rack that has prongs to hold your shoes. This type of shoe storage is better for people that have a little bit more space to work with. Shoetrees will often spin or rotate so that you have access to all of your pairs of shoes.
While all the above mentions shoe storage was for the home or personal use. Some will find the need for larger scale shoe storage. Local shoe storage can be found at many self storage facilities in your city or town. Shoe stores that have too much inventory may choose to store their shoes off-site at a local self storage business. Some self storage facilities will offer regular or climate controlled storage depending on the needs of the customers. While you would think that most shoes would be ok in regular storage, higher priced and leather pairs will fair better in climate controlled shoe storage. Individual needs shoe storage also, and will look for self storage to store their collections of shoes. If you have enough shoes that you need self storage, you might want to entertain the thought that you own too many shoes. But if you need self storage for your shoes it is out there available to you.
