PhoneSmart Celebrates Its Own Local Playwright

Columbia, MO USA – June 30, 2010 –  Tearrance Chisholm, PhoneSmart self storage call center associate and local playwright, is being recognized by the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and has been invited to recite a public reading of his play during Voices at the River.

Voices of the River II is to be held from July 14-17, 2010. The public reading of Liddy’s Sammiches, Potions, and Baths, by Tearrance Chisholm is to be held at 6 pm on July 16, at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 West 9th St., 3rd Floor, Downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.

Mr. Chisholm’s play, Liddy’s Sammiches, Potions, and Baths, is a play about the daughter of sorceress who seeks to realize her identity through her deceased mother’s spell book. Teaching herself through her mother’s words, Liddy journeys to find the truth about the mother she never got a chance to know. This play lives in the south, on the border between reality and the fantastic, and explores how one begins to put together the ingredients to concoct the truth.

Voices at the River celebrates the art of great storytelling and is designed to support African-American and Latino playwrights. The event is held biennially and includes a two-week residency directed at developing and preserving the voice of African-American and Latino playwrights in American theatre.

During the residency, participants will work alongside directors, actors and staff to refine their plays for the stage. The event is underwritten by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, a private, nonprofit foundation whose mission is to improve the lives of Arkansans by funding programs and projects that improve education, economic development, and economic, racial and social justice.
