Portable storage is a storage container that is drop off in front of your home and picked up when you are done filling it up with furniture storage. Though both have their advantages and disadvantages over one another, the safest way is self storage at a self storage facility.

 

 

The advantage of portable storage is they can be filled up at your own leisure in the front of your home. Storage comes to you. You do not go to storage. If you have a small car but a big sofa, you do not have to worry about hauling it all the way to a self storage unit. For the same reason people like portable storage, because they can take their leisurely time moving storage, neighbors hate them. Neighbors want portable storage units gone as quickly as possible. They are considered an eyesore and drain the value of the neighborhood, especially if they are present for a long time.

 

 

Unlike portable storage, self storage units are safe and secure. Portable storage units are out in the open and everyone has access to it. Though it is locked, the lock is vulnerable. A self storage unit at a self storage facility is not only locked with the customers own padlock, but the whole property is fenced in. Self storage has a pin-pad access controlled gate so only self storage customers of that property have right of entry into the lot. Usually security includes video surveillance and an on-site property management team.

 

 

Portable storage or mobile storage is great because of the easy access when it is in your driveway. However that changes when it is hauled away. When the portable storage is finally hauled away it is brought to a storage property where your storage is awaiting for its new permanent home. The issue is that you do not have access to it until it arrives at your new home. So if you need anything out of your storage, you are out of luck. 

 

 

Portable storage or mobile storage is just a temporary storage solution for moving storage. It is not an option for long-term storage, though some people try. The design of portable storage is so you can move in a leisurely matter. If you are searching for a long-term storage solution, rent a self storage unit at a self storage property. Some people just want to get a few things out of the way and others use self storage for commercial storage. Commercial storage is storage for retailers, medical and legal documents, restaurant wine storage, and food storage. Portable storage cannot hold these types of storage, because they are long term storage items.

 

 

Self storage is safer than portable storage for two reasons. It is the safer decision because you will not anger the neighbors. And it is the safer because self storage is much more secure.
