It goes without saying that a typical home has parts scattered all over the house. Just look in the garage and you’ll find car parts, tool parts, furniture parts, electronic parts, and boat parts. In the basement there are toy parts and parts that you have no idea where they belong. But we don’t want to just throw random parts away because you never know when you might need them.
Someone needs to invent a parts storage unit. Actually, one already exists. Storage units are not just for complete items like, cars, boats, lawnmowers, and lawn tools. They can be used for car parts, boat parts, lawnmower parts, and lawn tool parts. I’m sure every pack rat has a spouse yelling at them to clean out the garage or basement and get rid of all those parts. If you do, you should listen to him or her and use a storage unit for parts storage. Not only will you make your spouse happy, you will benefit from it too. A clean garage invites the car or truck back in. Garages were not designed for parts storage; rather, they were designed for car and
truck storage. Use your garage as the designers intended. Wouldn’t it be nice to pull out of your garage with an ice and snow free car after a wintry storm? Garages also secure your car from thieves. So, get rid of the parts by putting them away in a storage unit.
All of us know a friend who owns a classic car planted in the yard growing rust around the fenders and hood. This friend swears that one day he will rebuild it and get it running again. Ten years later the car is still there but it is more hidden by the extensive brush growing around it. Do you know this guy? Of course you do. Everyone does. If you are a good friend you would tell him to put that hunk of junk in a storage unit. But you may view it as a parts storage unit because that is only what the classic car is good for. The car has been abandoned in the yard for so long that the engine parts are beyond repair, the tire parts have dry rot, and the body parts crumble with the slightest touch. Although, he still believes he can salvage the car to its original condition, you see it better off as a planter.
But let’s be serious. Cars make ugly planters. He is better off putting it in
parts storage.
Why do people hold onto parts and decaying classic cars? Usually, it is a way they hold onto their youth. They can’t let go of the past so they cling onto anything they can, even if it is just parts. No one wants to hold on to their entire past. Some past memories are best forgotten. That is why they hold onto just parts, because they want to remember the finer parts of the past. However, just like we store memories in out brains, our parts should be put away in parts storage units.
