Otherwise they stand a good chance of being robbed or damaged. If one wants expert advice he can always visit the storehouses personally and speak to the storehouse personnel out there. They will be in a good position to help out people who do not know the most appropriate ways of storing articles.
Before being sent into paid storehouses, the items should be packed properly. Many firms that have storehouses also supply packing material which can be used for packing the items well. These are different from the packing materials that people generally use like newspaper etc. which may not give adequate protection. Many paid storage units sell packing materials at reasonable prices.

A paid storehouse is a place where customers goods can be stored safely. They are inexpensive remedies to many of the packing problems. Adequate planning will ensure that a given storing area is utilized in an efficient and cost effective manner. If one needs to add new items in an area frequently it is better for him to hire a greater storing area than a small one. There will be adequate area for storing a lot of additional items. A small area packed to capacity cannot accommodate more items and as a result people will have to hire new storage units for additional charges.

Good firms provide written documentation for their storehouses. These documents are contracts or agreements that spell out the terms and conditions under which the storehouse is to be hired. These documents should be read carefully and understood well. One should not ignore anything written in fine print as this might contain some terms and conditions. If these are not read properly they are sure to be surprises that might not be all that pleasant to the tenants. One should take the help of a legal expert in understanding the terms and conditions and their implications. After being convinced by each and every clause written in the documentation one should sign the storage units hiring contract.

After signing the contract one should plan the way they would like to utilize his storing area. He should think about organizing his area well so that maximum area is used efficiently. While keeping the items in the storehouses, it is always better to leave some area for walking in between rows of items. This will ensure that all items are accessed easily. Boxes should be packed with bulky items at the bottom and light items at the top. Nothing should be kept on light boxes as they will not able to withstand the weight. Heavy boxes should never be placed on the top of a stack as the entire stack will fall off due to bad balancing. Stacking boxes of similar sizes is always a recommended practice.

Paid storage units prohibit certain items from being stored. Inflammable articles are the ones that are prohibited most frequently. The firm will have some laws and there are state laws also that prevent the storing of some items. One should ask the storehouse authorities about the prohibitions and store the articles accordingly. Otherwise the storehouses might impose some penalties on the people who surreptitiously store prohibited articles like drugs, alcohol and certain chemicals.
