Home is where the heart is, but that is why our furniture is always in storage. Our hearts cannot make up its mind (like it has one) about where home is. So the human body is left looking for furniture storage while the brain is left wonder how to store furniture. Until the heart chooses another home, furniture must go into a self storage unit, preferably climate control storage. Unfortunately, the brain tends to forget or never knew the proper way to store furniture storage. Well, make room in the brain for some more knowledge because here are tips to keep in mind about furniture storage. So, get your feet off of the furniture and lets go.

If you sit at the head of the table you will have to make some strategic decisions regarding your furniture storage to get the most out of your storage space. You may need a couple of couch potatoes to help with the move. Also, rent a truck to haul the furniture to the storage unit. Rest easy the night before because you will need your energy.

First, remember how easy it was to assemble some of that furniture? Well, the instructions said it should have been easy assembly. Now, disassemble anything that can be dismantled. You will get more furniture storage space out of your self storage unit if you take everything apart. Most likely the assembly instructions were tossed into the trash so you will have to remember what connects to what. Mark the parts so you can easily reassemble them again. Put all of the small parts like nuts, bolts, and screws in a plastic bag and tape it somewhere, but not where it will ruin the finish. Most tables and bed frames come apart and go back together easily. So do not fear too much.

Take a good look at the wood finish on your furniture. Do you want it to look that way when you take it out of furniture storage? Then cover it up. Use old bed sheets or plastic sheets to cover the furniture storage in both the moving truck and the self storage unit. For stackable chairs, wrap the legs and arms in newspaper or bubble wrap. If you know that your heart is going to take its sweet time finding a new place to live, lay a plastic sheet on the floor of the self storage unit to protect the furniture storage from dirt and moister. However, a climate control self storage unit will prevent moister from penetrating your furniture storage.

To get the most out of your self storage unit you have to think out all of the possible wasted space. Furniture storage has a lot of hidden storage space that one might forget about. For instance, the dresser drawers or any piece of furniture with drawers can be filled with small storage items. Or any storage cabinets that you normally use for storage space can still be used for storage space while sitting in a self storage unit. When packing a self storage unit for furniture storage, put the big stuff in first all the way to the back. Stack whatever you can, because if you look up there is plenty of storage space above your head. Though it may seem like a smart idea to stand a sofa on its side for more storage space, it could put a lot of stress on parts of it where there should not be stress. It would be better to lay it just like you would at home and put light storage on top of where you sit.
