Here are some useful suggestions for the self storage customers , to keep your valuable important items safely inside the storing unit.

As it is the most convenient, secured and reasonably priced way to store your items, prior planning will help you to use the system in a most cost effective manner. If you have large amount of articles or you want to use the unit frequently, it is better to go for a larger space for your convenience.

Provide the storing company with all your personal details and try to keep them updated in case of any modification. This information will be required to contact you for any type of emergency situation. The self storage customers should make a planning of how to arrange things within the unit. Keep a walkway while stacking up your goods, so that you can have access to the rear end of the unit. Keep the items in front row, which you might require in a frequent basis.

For each packing box, place the heavier items at the bottom, and lighter items on the top. Try to maintain a uniform size for the storing boxes. This way it will be easier to stack on.

According to the state law, there is a list of items which you can not store within the unit. Check with the storing company to know about these prohibited items. Cups and bowls should be nested to give them support. Fill all unused space with packing materials to restrict movement. After sealing the box label that it contains fragile items with marker. Never put any box on top of these boxes. Boxes containing fragile items must be stacked on top.To avoid moisture or damp from the floor, you can place the boxes on board or pallets. You can even put plastic sheet on the floor to keep the boxes dry and clean.

The self storage customers might use hanger cartons for clothing, curtains and drapes. If that is not available, fold the items carefully and place them within the drawers or chests.

Fill up the drawers with smaller kitchen items. To prevent movement, fill the unused place with towels, blankets or tablecloths. A refrigerator should be thoroughly cleaned and dried. Keep the door slightly open for ventilation purpose.

All metal items should be wiped with machine oil before wrapping them with rags for storing.
