Portable storage chambers are becoming a hot favorite with people who want to move their household or business purpose items from one place to another. These days apart from basic security these storing chambers are providing protection from the outside environment while they are on the move. Hence one can be assured that their belongings will not get damaged while being transported from one place to another. These small storing chambers that can be easily shifted from place to place can be kept in the backyard, garage or garden when they are not on the move.
One can also keep the portable storage at the premises of the firm providing the storing amenities. The first environmental regulation feature is the presence of a constant temperature in the storing chambers. This is ensured by a thermostat head that is placed on top of the chamber. This gives the user of the chamber the convenience of regulating the temperature as well as the humidity levels inside the storing chamber. This thermostat can be easily charged through any standard electrical plug point. It can also be run on battery when the chamber is being transported. The temperature can be manipulated to remain at a constant desirable temperature when the actual environmental temperature is higher by about 20 degrees.
The portable storage thermostat regulation also maintains the humidity levels at a desirable level only when it differs from the actual humidity levels by 20 percent. In cold weather conditions the temperature and humidity tend to be extremely low. This is expected to adversely affect the items in the storing chamber. Hence the environmental regulation feature sees to it that a higher temperature, to the maximum extent of a variation of 30 degrees, is maintained in the storing chamber. Humidity is also maintained at a desired level.
These storing chambers are usually made of wood and lined on the outside with steel. This gives them the requisite environmental insulation and sturdiness. The portable storage becomes energy efficient by this insulation. The doors of the chambers are insulated and are easily operated. Many industry experts have found that of all the different environmental agents humidity can play havoc on the storing chamber and its contents. When the relative humidity increases the wood of the chamber absorbs water and when it decreases it ejects water. As a result it swells out and shrinks respectively. This results in its expansion and contraction in a haphazard manner, due to which the material starts deteriorating. This happens in the case of both new and old wood.
The items in the portable storage made of wood undergo distortion owing to internal pressure developed due to the phenomenon discussed above. As a result they do not fit properly with each other. Even if the wooden items are coated with a protective substance, these coatings undergo deterioration with age. They become rigid and eventually peel off exposing the inner wooden surface to the external environment. Usually a coating of paint or gilding is done on gesso. The desired humidity can be set by first knowing the average relative humidity of that place for the entire year. The desired humidity is set to the level of the average relative humidity with a variation of 10 percent. A stable humidity is maintained by dehumidifying the storing chamber in the summer months and humidifying it in the winter months.
