If the owner of a rubber chicken factory decided one day to give up the business for a better career in retirement, he would need to find some kind of long term storage to keep all of the leftover rubber chickens until he sells them all on an online auction website. Along with the rubber chickens, he can also rent a storage unit for long term storage for his 1980 video game system and a flat tire that he claims belonged to a dead fat singer who is often impersonated in Vegas. But choosing the size and type of long term storage is not an easy decision to make and should not be left to fate by flipping a coin. Despite winning a wishbone pulling contest, luck has gone against him lately. He just learned that his rabbit ear television set will be soon obsolete and he must buy a new one with digital cable. But instead of tossing the old television in the garage pail, he wants to keep it because it was state-of-the-art when it was born on the production line and he remained loyal to it even when color television came out. And he is proud of that.
This is exactly what long term storage is for, to keep the things we are proud of and the things we cannot part away from for any apparent reason. But over the years they become part of us. They tell us who we are and remind us where we came from. Long term storage keeps us grounded in an ever fast pace changing world. And some people cannot let go of the past. That is why they rent long term storage. It is a time capsule for them. Whenever they want they can take a step back in time just by opening the garage door to the storage unit. They hope one day to pass on their long term storage to someone else who can appreciate how things once were.
But he is still in his size and type of long term storage dilemma. He does not know if he should rent a 5 x 5 long term storage unit or a 10 x 10. Then he found out about climate control
self storage and the different sizes associated with that. Though he likes the idea of keeping long term storage well preserved in 70 degrees Fahrenheit, it is the most advanced technology he has experienced in over 25 years. However, the property manager explained that he would not have to anything different with a climate control storage unit compared to a regular self storage unit for
long term storage. He liked that idea very much.
The more our long term storage is important to us the more we want to take care of it. Material things are like our vital organs. We cannot live without them and we want to give them extra care. So, we do not mind paying a little extra money for climate control storage units for long term storage if we know it will be safe and secure. And that is the purpose for long term storage at a self storage facility. So it remains in the same condition when it was first put away in storage.
As it turns out, he had more rubber chickens than he thought he had, so he rented a 10 x 20 self storage unit with climate control. And due to the slow sales on the online auction website, the rubber chickens never left long term storage.
