What do you do when you have outgrown your closet, attic and pantry space? This is common problem for many households today. Some companies that specialize in organizational products, containers and storage solutions are making big bucks by selling ideas and items that help organize. There are shoe organizers, sock dividers, big rubber totes, wrapping paper centers, scrapbook organizers, stackable files, cubes, crates and more. A lot of people find themselves using their garage for storage. Garage storage can be very handy if you are willing to give up the space. Most homes have garages that are either attached or detached and come in different sizes. Some condos, town homes and apartment sometimes offer garage space for an extra fee.

Garage storage is typically two types of structures.

The first type of garage storage is based out of the house or home. When you say, Garage Storage, most people will immediately think of this type of storage. The standard garage is usually about 2 cars width, plus some extra on each side. A very popular building idea is making the 2 and a half sized garage, so you can park two vehicles and still have some extra room for storage. Some larger, luxury style homes have 3 car garages or bigger. Garage storage can be handy yet frustrating at the same time. You like having the space to park, store or use as a workshop, and it does not cost you anything extra. Many people are using neat and trendy, garage storage units. These garage storage units are modular, sturdy and helpful when it comes to organizing your garage items. They can have workbenches, shelving and boards to hang your tools. Some companies even have matching refrigerators to match your garage organizers.

Another type of garage storage is self storage. When people call around looking for self storage, they sometimes will ask for garage storage. They do this because sometimes outside self storage resembles a garage door. Many self storage companies will put the larger garage style door on their outside drive up storage units for the convenience of the customers. The larger door allows the self storage customer to put large or odd shaped items into storage without fighting a regular sized door. Some people calling around for self storage will not know the size that they need so they will ask for a garage sized unit. Many times the caller does not need that large of a unit but that is the only thing that they can relate to the size that they think they need. Garage storage can also be found at self storage facilities that rent out inside storage for vehicles. Inside self storage for vehicles can be a little bit more expensive but gaining the space at home or in the driveway can be worth it.

So whether you need garage storage in your home or self storage in a garage, the options are out there for you. Call around to your local self storage facility to see if they have what you need in garage storage. If you cannot fit renting self storage into you budget, you might have to resort to storing in your garage. Do not worry, you will not be the only ones on the block that have storage in their garage.
