A self storage renter is a person who hires public storing areas to store his belongings. There are certain things that a tenant must bear in mind before hiring out a public storehouse.
All good firms that provide places for storing items ask the tenant to first go through an agreement that consists of the terms and conditions for using the storehouses. The tenant is expected to read the agreement carefully and understand each and every clause and its implications. He should consult a legal expert, if necessary to clarify any legal implications of the clauses that he is not able to understand clearly.
A self storage renter can also take the help of an assets manager in understanding the full implication of the clauses mentioned in the agreement and also regarding the appropriate action that he has to take in case of any issues that he might have regarding them.
The tenant should always try to maintain a smooth relationship with the firm. He should pay his hiring charges and other dues by the deadlines mentioned and should always try to stick to the deadlines as far as possible, to avoid any hassles. Some of the tenants try to procrastinate making the payments. This only creates a bad impression in the mind of the owner and he will not excuse if this becomes a regular feature. He will ask the self storage renter to serve a penalty for defaulting. Ultimately the tenant will end up paying additional charges. If a tenant does not pay any heed to the warnings of the owner of the firm, does not pay the hiring charges on time and leaves his items in the storehouse for a long time without attending to them; the storehouse authorities will take possession of the items in it and auction it off. The faulty tenant will not have the right to claim his property.
Many times, before taking possession of the items in an abandoned storehouse, the authorities send a notice to the tenant and finally take possession of the items when the self storage renter does not pay up the charges or does not respond to the warnings in the written notice.
Many times the tenants do not default intentionally. It happens because they simply forget the due dates. In such a case, they can always opt for an auto pay program that reminds them automatically about the due date a few days in advance of the due date so that people can remember and prepare themselves for making the payments. Sometimes the charges are debited automatically from the bank accounts of some people based on their credit card numbers or bank account details. The self storage renter does not have to bother about remembering to make the payments as they will be automatically taken care of by the auto pay program. The auto pay program saves one from fines and penalties. It is being increasingly used by busy individuals as they do not have the time to remember to make payments owing to their busy schedules.
The tenant should always bear in mind that he is ultimately responsible for the items that are placed in the storehouse. He should always ensure these items against natural calamities, thefts and any mishaps. The tenant should always provide accurate information about himself and the items that he has placed in the storehouse.
