Depending on where you live the weather can vary as much as the people, having a viable option for car storage is an important thing to consider. If all you own is a beat up old grocery-getter, than the idea of car storage may not seem that important. But, if you have a vehicle that you would like to keep in prime condition, car storage is pretty much a necessity.

Inclement weather can wreak havoc on a car or truck. Take hail for example. Just a couple of years ago in the mid-west., there was a massive hailstorm that took the town by surprise. It was a little cloudy that day, and there did not seem to be any indication of a large storm rolling through.  But as the clouds darkened and the temperature outside plummeted, golf ball sized hail started to fall from the sky. Any car that was left outside, without the protection of any type of car storage, was damaged.

People had their car windows shattered, hoods mauled, it was a crushing blow to any auto owner when the storm hit. What followed was months of insurance claims, backed up auto body repair shops and more than one person wondering why they did not put their cars in a garage.

Hail and other threats from nature such as high winds, snow and even more severe natural disasters are just a few of the things which can give those outdoor automobiles some problems. In every city there is the threat of someone vandalizing or breaking into your car. Of course there are security systems designed to deter would-be predators from doing this, but those are prone to failure and do not always provide enough protection to your car.

If, instead of just having a honking horn and flashing lights to keep people away, you had four walls and better-designed locks, your cars safety would immediately improve. Garages and other protective housing for vehicles are proven to be more effective than alarms alone. Part of the reason for this is time. In order to steal or vandalize a car that is housed in a garage, it is going to take a bit of time. The fact of the matter is that having your vehicle in a building can greatly decrease the likelihood of vandalism on your vehicle.

Another benefit of using buildings and garages to keep your car in is sheer convenience and comfort. In the wintertime, it can be a disconcerting thing in the morning to go out to your car and find it covered in snow or ice. You think you are all set to go to work, have just enough time and you step outside.

But wait, it snowed for three hours the night before and you now have about 20 minutes of scraping, warming and cursing to do before your day even gets started. We have all been there. We know this is not fun. It does not have to be like that. By putting your vehicle in a garage, especially a heated one, you never again will have to scrape and scream your way through a cold winter morning. Instead, you step into the garage, start the car, and you are set to go. While some may want to circumvent the expense of buying car storage, the benefits certainly make it an option worth looking into.
