Change is never easy, especially when it involves relocating. The farther you travel in your journey of life, the messier relocation becomes. The first relocation we experience is moving out of our parents house. No matter what age we are, that first night in your own place feels like a right of passage. The practicalities of this relocation are respectively simple when compared to the relocations to come. We typically have a bed, a few pieces of furniture handed down from family members and our clothes when we leave our parents house. The cost of this relocation is practically nothing, usually only the cost of gas for your dads pickup truck, and he probably paid for that himself.

Now that you have your own place, you start adding your personal touch to the decor of your home. A giant neon sign in the window, plastic cups you have collected from the pizza place you eat twice a week, furniture you bought on sale and the nice pieces of furniture you buy slowly to add to the sophisticated side of your style all collect in your apartment. A few years later, you are ready to relocate to a new city or neighborhood.

Now you have considerably more to move than you did when you left your parents house. You may be undecided on whether or not too keep the neon sign that your neighbors complain about. Or maybe you do not know if you will have room in your new place for a futon and a couch. There is no need to make a hasty decision and get rid of your prized collection. Short term storage is the perfect answer for safely storing the things you do not know if you can fit into a new place or hanging onto the things you do not know if you want to get rid of just yet.

So you move into your new place and settle into life. You meet that special someone and you both live together. Now you have two collections of a hodgepodge of stuff. Do you really need two toasters, two futons, two hundred plastic cups from local eateries? You really do not want to get rid of your stuff though, what if things do not work out and you move out? Short term storage will allow you to store some of the extra or unused items until you decide you do not need them, or until you find use for them again.

Eventually, you find The One and decide to tie the knot and buy a house. This is a milestone in your life but you will soon find out that this relocation does not always go smoothly. There are sometimes a few days or weeks between ending a lease and closing on a house and taking ownership.

Where will you keep all the things you have both collected? Short term storage is the perfect fit for this circumstance. You do not want to pay high fees to extend your lease a few weeks when you can just put your things into short term storage and crash on a friends couch for a little bit. In fact, after a few days of sleeping on your friends couches and fighting over time for the shower, your friends will volunteer to move your stuff out of short term storage and into your new home for free.

Many more transitions and relocations are to come, but by now, you have the hang of it and are a pro at moving.

After a harsh and cold winter people are all feeling the urge to rediscover the outdoors and experience it for themselves, not just from behind an icy window. As the weather warms, flowers begin to bloom and the insect repellant sales become more prevalent the great and adventurous camping season has begun. People plan months ahead for camping season to ensure that their experiences will not turn into a dreadful one. Depending on what type of camping they enjoy, the sale of RVs, tents, fishing equipment, and timeshares increase significantly during this time.

Camping is an experience that allows one to leave their normal hectic life behind and enjoy the peaceful visage of nature. Any troubles one may have had in their life have been washed away and everything in life is now pleasant. Women, men, and children, young and old can enjoy the experience of camping. Overall, the experience of camping is equivalent to the life of a pioneer. A favorite pastime of campers is fishing, and what better way to celebrate the catch than by serving it for a scrumptious dinner. The camper must get up in the morning build a fire, make breakfast, do dishes, and secure the camp before going out. Then they can go sight seeing and hiking, fishing, or just sit and barbeque or roast marshmallows. After returning to camp the vacationers can make lunch or dinner, clean up, build the fire and re-secure the camp to help keep the critters out of their personal items and food. Then you sit down by the fire to relax under the stars with family and friends.

Camping in an RV requires much planning, however this task can be easily accomplished to ensure that the summer camping months are enjoyable. When buying an RV the customer must first find a place to store the RV during the winter months. RV storage is very affordable and it ensures that you belongings in the RV are safe, and the RV is not damaged in any way. Many facilities that offer these kinds of areas may offer either indoor or outdoor parking spaces. Those that offer indoor RV storage may be slightly less inexpensive, however the RV is protected from the weather elements, protection from insect infestations and it less likely that the vehicle would be susceptible to break-ins. When storing the RV outdoors in an RV storage facility it will be secured with an access controlled gate in which each customer possesses his or her own code. This way the property manager is able to monitor who enters and exits the facility during the access hours. In addition, when searching for RV storage the vacationer must decide on a facility that would be accommodating to their needs. Gate hours, security, and facility features may play a large factor in the happiness of the customer.

After renting RV storage the vacationer must buy the RV of their choosing. Buying an RV is like buying a second home because one lives in the RV for short periods of time, so it is essential that it is accommodating to their individual needs.

Camping in an RV and a tent is a very different experience. Being out in the wilderness without any shelter, but a thin tarp like material overhead may be appealing to some. They enjoy being so close to nature and sleeping under the stars. Depending on ones likings both can be pleasant and peaceful.

If you do not live in a cave or under a rock and have read a newspaper or watched TV lately, you will know that everyone and everything is Going Green. This is really a promotion for Green, as he was only known as a color before everyone jumped on the environmental bandwagon. You can Go Green, Be Green, Think Green and more, all for the good of the environment and the Earth. Ten years ago the buzzword in the environmental groups was, recycle. Recycle, recycle, recycle has been beaten into our brains and many people today are recycling more than ever as a result of the marketing campaign from years ago. So how long do you think it will take us to really make our lives Green?

One industry is trying to take a more pro-active approach in the whole Green movement. This industry has and maintains many storage buildings all over the world. So, how can this industry make strides to make their properties more Green? These buildings are not necessarily the most attractive buildings on the block, but they do serve their purpose. The buildings provide areas for people to rent for a monthly fee. Architects and engineers have tried to make these types of building nicer to look at, but not much progress has been made throughout the years. So, now the focus is on making these buildings more Green.

What can this industry do to make their storage buildings more Green? It starts with simple things like, lighting and light bulbs. Changing over to the more efficient and lower energy consuming bulbs will help on the electric bill. Making sure that the office has well sealed windows and doors to help with the heating and cooling consumption is another good tip. Offering recycling bins throughout the property for the customers to use is always handy. Another great idea is to have good landscaping and greenery about your property. It is not only pleasant to the eye it helps Mother Nature as well. These are a few things that most every facility can do with their storage buildings as a small start to Going Green.

If you want to step up to the big time Going Green level then here are a few things you might consider on your current property or a future property. One of the first things that people in this industry started doing is installing solar panels on the roofs of the storage buildings on their property. Because this roof area is basically unused, it provides a perfect setting for solar panels. Not all parts of the country and World are sunny most of the time, so this option would be better fitted for sunnier areas. Another thing that some properties are looking into is wind power. If your facility is in a windy area, then your property might benefit from a windmill. This is a great way to harness energy from the wind and save on power. Both of these ideas can be costly upfront but the long-term benefits and savings will be paid back.

Storage buildings can be more Green if you want them to be. Look around at other industrial type buildings and see if you can get any ideas from them. Talk to other owners and see if you can get things done as a group for your storage buildings. You might qualify for a group discount or be able to help each other with projects. And remember, Go Green!

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/ssowner/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Industries, businesses and companies are always looking for the next big thing. For some, the next big thing is just around the corner, waiting to be discovered. You might not know what the next big thing is, but you wish that it would fall into your lap. It is that next hot idea, the life changing product or service that everyone will want.

Commercial storage was a natural fit for the rental unit industry. The thinking behind the idea was, well if individuals need to rent, then businesses will need to rent also. And so, commercial storage was born. It took a lot a finagling to get some rental sites to consider this option. By offering this service, some sites would have to rethink their whole layout of their facility. This service would need different access hours, different security and most of all a different layout of the units.

Sites that have this service need to take into consideration the hours that businesses usually keep. If a business was using this service they might need to access their unit at different hours of the day or night for restocking purposes. Some sites will offer an across the board access hours for everyone and then allow those with special needs to have additional hours for a nominal fee. The businesses will gladly pay the extra money to be able to access their unit whenever they need to.

Security at these sites will have to be at least equal to regular rental sites. Most commercial storage units contain merchandise, equipment, inventory or other items of large value. Some business insurance will cover some outside rental areas but most businesses will need to take out additional insurance or protection plans to cover their items. Some popular security items at these sites include but are not limited to, motion sensor cameras, tall sturdy fencing, bright flood lights, guard dogs, police patrols, on site management, and more.

The layout of the commercial storage facility will be quite different than regular unit rentals. Because large trucks will frequently be accessing the property, there must be an allowance for them to pull in and be able to turn around safely. This means the driving aisles will need to be wide and generous for all sizes of vehicles that might need access to the property. The units themselves will typically be larger than regular unit rentals, hence the name. But it does not stop at bigger units, these units will need to have larger doors to accommodate the items being stored.  The rooflines will be higher and the width of the buildings will also be larger.

Some commercial storage facilities will actually act as mini businesses. Space is rented out and people conduct their small businesses in the units. Along the row of units you could have a mechanic, a handy man shop, furniture restoration, a welder, and more industrial types of businesses. This allows some smaller businesses to rent a space at a reasonable price. If you are looking for this type of business situation, you should check with your local rental facilities to see if they can accommodate your small business. Likewise, check with your local business codes to see what permits you might need to have to operate you small business in a unit rental.

Storage unit rental sure has changed since storing in your home garage. Once upon a time, people who had garages would always have a corner cleared out for extra boxes. If they did not have a garage a lot of times then they would use their attic. Sheds are available to buy and put in your yard, for extra space. But usually those are filled with lawn care items or camping gear, or kids play things, bikes and such, and they fill pretty quick. Then when you need the tent it is way in the back of the shed and everything has to come out to get to it. And then everything has to go back in the way it came out. Not always easy. Some times people will store at their parents house or with someone who has more room then they have, just to get room in their own house.

When looking to buy a house, potential buyers will look to see how much space is in the home, big closets or lots of closet spaces. Attics, garages, cabinet spaces but most often the first thought is if the house has a lot of room or if the house does not have any space. There are many families with growing children or so many personal possessions that they need space to store their things.

With the growing need for more space has come along storage unit rental. Anyone needing extra space in their homes can find a local storage unit rental and store any thing they need to store. Most storage unit rental spaces have small units just to give you that extra closet space. There are larger ones too if a customer really needs some space. They can get a small unit for the lawn care items and camping gear. They can get a bigger one for all the things in their garage and have their garage back for their car. On the other hand, get a 10×20 and store the car and have the whole garage for storing.

Once we use to think of these companies as like a garage, an old stinky oily garage, sitting in the middle of nowhere. As if it were out there with no office or any one attending the property, without any fencing or lighting just like a garage without a house.

Now, that is not the case anymore. Store room facilities now almost look like hotels. They are multi-level with climate control inside the units to protect form extreme heat or cold. They have nice landscaping, black top parking lot, great security kind of like a gated community. The property manager often has an apartment on property and it is a gated community. There are facilities that have the drive up units where the door goes up like a garage. They are nice clean dry units, so a car can be stored inside or anything that customers are storing who want convenience to their unit. The units that are inside are convenient now too, there are lots of facilities that have inside loading docks and dollies and carts to use to get your belongings to the unit. If it is on the upper floor, there are big freight lifts or elevators to get the belongings to it.

Storage unit rental has changed since mom and dads garage and now if a house is purchased too small or families out grow them then they get extra space at a local facility.

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/ssowner/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Most people are proud homeowners who have many things they do not currently use in their house. From clothes to files to kitchen tables, there are many things that are not needed at this time in their life. At the same time, most people do not know what to do with it. All those extra items are sitting in their one or two car garage getting cold and moldy. Some people know that a storage rental option exists out there but no one is ever sure if they want to spend the money to use that service. You have to think about what is holding you back. It is sure that there are many people in the same situation.

When people call in looking for a storage rental for the first time, it is up to the managers on site to give them assurance that they are making a good decision for their lifestyle. For most people, if a manager at a storing facility asked them why they want to store, that is the first step to having the person go ahead and renting. They are trying to figure out if they want to spend their money to store their belongings so they can park their car in their garage. On the other hand, are they looking to store so they can have more room for their office? There were many instances, in this past winter season, in which there was heavy snow or hail. Unfortunately, you still had to find a way get out there to your car. Either you were getting beat up by the giant hail balls or shivering crazily trying to get your car separated from the banks of snow that surround it.

The managers on site have to do a great job understanding the needs of the caller. People do not just want to be sold to and then later on, feel as if they were cheated. You have to show them the convenience factor to needing their storage rental. As said before, how everyone lives their lives differently. Some people store junk and some people store priceless antiques. How do you paint the picture of swaying them to using you as a way to make their life convenient? That is the key. When most people go in there to talk about storing, they do not want to feel like everyone else.

What this article is getting at is this. If we as people who try to sell a storage rental so customers can find a way to determine their true needs, we can sell them on why they need it. Why have boxes stacked to the ceiling in a standard room, when you have company coming over with nowhere for them to sleep? Why place your antique wood cabinet in the garage when the temperatures can reach below 0 degrees or get as high as 100 degrees? Is it worth 25 to 100 bucks, an average range for a smaller space, for the convenience of having more room in your house? Is it worth it to pay to protect your assets? Convenience is the way to show the caller that a storage rental is the way to free up and organize the space that you have in your house for things that you would like to have there not what we all believe as junk. It is and will always be up to the customer, but sell them on convenience and they will hand over their money.

RVing is a favorite pastime for many families. Cruising through the Midwest, climbing the Rocky Mountains and discovering unbeaten paths are what sparks a family to purchase an RV. It represents a future of family vacations and building memories.

Perusing the RV sales lot allows a future RV owner to dream big. Brand new RVs look perfect and have that mesmerizing new car smell to the fullest extent. Many times, a family will purchase a new RV of at least half or more of the value of their house. What seems like a romantic idea at the moment quickly becomes a realistic problem.

Families eager to take their new baby out for a road trip quickly curb their adventure until they have saved up enough money for gas. In addition to the poor gas mileage of RVs, the rising price of gas has many families barely commuting to work without testing how far the car will go on empty. The strain of higher gas prices only promises to increase with the summer travel season approaching, which lessens the possibility of traveling across the country.

So what becomes of the family dream of road trips and vacations? During the winter months, the RV sits dormant. However, families who have invested so much do not want to put their RV out in the cold. What do they do? One answer is renting an RV storage space.

Many RV storage spaces provide covered parking or garage parking. Another benefit of RV storage is that the facility should provide security by way of a fenced perimeter and restricted access to only allow tenants to enter.

RV storage also solves the puzzle of where a family can keep larger RVs when not in use. Many homeowners associations and cities do not allow long term parking for trailers, abandoned vehicles or RVs. Even if parking the RV on the street is allowed, it can be an eyesore to the neighbors and to the RV owner.

One way many families compromise the desire to take their RV on the road is by using RV storage camps. At an RV camp, campers can hookup their RV to water and electric lines and park their RV on the grounds.

It is also common for families to tow along a small SUV or car for short drives around the camp site or touring the area. Brining along a secondary vehicle is less hassle than unhooking water and electric lines from the RV. Driving an SUV or car will also save oodles of gasoline, which does help save money. Driving a small family SUV or car will also save time and allow the family to drive in and park in areas that might not have been accessible to large RVs.

RVs are also being sold by owners who no longer use them. Buying a used RV is one way to offset the high cost of new RV vehicles. However, one should do their homework on a used RV in order to make sure there is no history or accident. Having a check up done on the vehicle is also a wise decision and if the seller does not go along with having a check up, then you may be best to avoid the transaction all together.

Whatever you decide, there are many ways to buy an RV for a bargain and several options for parking your RV in between travels.

A trend on the rise in the work at home field is shopping for a storage unit rental. Shoppers evaluate an online business rather than go to the traditional physical store. Although rare, online shops needing secret shoppers are becoming more available. Shopping on the web is convenient. There is no travel, no need for child care, shopping can be done anytime of the day or night and no matter where you live, either in a large metropolitan area or a small town, the opportunity is equal for everyone.

Storage unit rental businesses offer a wide variety of things for the shopper to check on. The most common thing would be how easy to use the site is for the customer. For example, was the location information easy to find or did you have to search for it. Was the unit information clearly visible including the sizes and colors available? If an inquiry by email was made, how long did it take for a response? Was the customer service personnel friendly and courteous? If you were required to purchase something, was the order correct and arrive in a timely manner? These are a few of the things online shoppers are seeking when looking for a storage unit rental.

The online shopping jobs are normally offered through regular in the field mystery schedulers. The pay varies on what is asked of the shopper. From a very simple assignment the pay might be ten dollars while a more complex can bring in fifty dollars. The fees are lower than a typical brick and mortar assignment, but with no travel expenses involved it can still be profitable.

Web mystery shops need the same qualities from its participants as regular mystery job assignments do. Reliability is a must. Meeting the deadline to complete assignments is mandatory. Shoppers with a good attention to detail and good communication and grammar in their writing are needed.

Web shops say they need people of every background, all ages and any level of computer experience. They say the new Internet user is less likely to be able to work around problems that experienced users might find easier to solve.

There may be a simple check-off form or a narrative summary of your site visit required.

A steady full time income probably will not happen with the online mystery shops. Payment can take two to three weeks by check and shoppers outside the United States and Canada may be paid in some other way, such as gift certificates.

The shopper of the storage unit rental will need to complete an unpaid training gig after they apply. This may include a certain scenario on a website. There will be two screens that the user will be alternating between. One screen is the client web site while the other contains questions you will need to fill out as you go through the site. The shopper is asked to perform a typical customer action like finding a gift certificate for their dad or an item for their home. The client will usually specify a budget as well.

Paid assignments are normally about an hour and could include evaluating customer service by sending an email or making a telephone call. Sometimes the shopper will be testing the how well the search operation on the site works. Typically the shopper will not be required to make a purchase, but if a credit card is required the client usually provides a dummy number specifically for that purpose.

Web mystery shops could include banks, florists, non-profit and government agencies as well as retail sites, and travel agencies.

Online shops are a new and fun way to make money online. It is a good alternative to the typical mystery shopping jobs, especially for those in remote areas.  But do not expect to make a full-time income from web shopping for a storage unit rental client.

Storage building kits are simple enough for the average person to build in just a few days. Outdoor and hardware stores and the big do it yourself stores all carry building kits. These kits are great for the hands on type of person. Depending on the size, these buildings can be used to store anything from your classic car, boat, and camping trailer to all your garden tools, lawn equipment and any other toys you might have in your backyard. They are a good option for a homeowner who does not have a garage or ample room in their basement.

These kits are available for just about every budget and many can be purchased online. The customer saves time with a kit instead of building from a set of plans. The sheds are made to handle even the worst weather. The building kits are made of metal or wood. The metal unit is easier than the wood to assemble and more durable. The cost of metal kit is more economical as well.

These steel buildings are ideal for farm and industry use and for workshops, garages or equipment storage. Metal building kits are ideal for the home, farm, and industry. The package containing steel can be easily assembled and is readily available.

Putting the storage building kit together takes only a few steps. The first step will be to determine the location of where you want the building, the size you need and your budget. You will want to determine your color scheme as well, since many of these kits come in a wide variety of colors. Check with local city clerk to find out if a permit is required to build. Another priority to check out is how low maintenance the building is. You do not want to spend every year painting and repairing your building. Many of the prefabricated kits come with a 12 year warranty.

When determining the size, do not overlook the opening size of the doorway. If you plan on storing big items like boats or lawn tractors, you will need a door large enough to drive through. Wide, double or telescoping doors are ideal. Some of the more popular sizes are 10×14, 10×9 or a small 8×8 shed. The two main things needed for the storage shed are the foundation and the kit itself.

Once you have done your research and have purchased the kit that is right for you, then it is a matter of following a few simple directions. Everything will be labeled and numbered, predrilled and precut.
Basically the plan is simple. First, a foundation is poured, and then the floor joints are installed. Next come the wall panels. Openings for the windows and doors are made and the roof is installed. Finally, insulation, windows and doors and siding are attached.

Storage kits include all the necessary building materials including lumber and steel. The material is precut to the proper size. The materials included are for the floor joists and deck. The floor plates and roof panels, wall studs, plates, angle and stud brackets and any prefabricated material such as the door stock, siding, and rafters. The windows and doors as well as assembly instructions are included as well.

Even if you are not the handiest or craftiest person, putting together a building from a kit could not be simpler. The construction is detailed and written in simple directions. Everything is precut and prefabricated and no painting is involved. Building your own shed from a kit can add the storage needed without the high cost of contracting the work to a builder.
